Teaching Position

Deadline:
May 24th

Job Title:
TEACHING

Description:
Our children deserve the best. Teach in New Orleans.

teachNOLA seeks the nation’s most outstanding certified teachers to make a difference by teaching in New Orleans public schools starting in the fall of 2007. This highly-selective initiative recruits talented teachers to drive the city’s rebirth by boosting academic achievement for all students.

This is a critical time for New Orleans and a potential watershed moment for public education in the United States. The reconfiguration of the city’s schools following Hurricane Katrina provides a historic opportunity to transform one of the nation’s lowest performing school systems. That transformation will not be possible, however, without a group of accomplished, goal-oriented teachers.
Certified teachers from Louisiana or any other state who want to make a difference in New Orleans by addressing educational inequalities are encouraged to apply. We want teachers for all grade levels and are particularly interested in outstanding candidates in science, math, special education, and foreign languages.
The task of rebuilding our city – and our schools – is monumental, and it will not be easy. We are calling on you to take up this challenge to improve academic outcomes for all of our children.

Benefits
- Streamlined, personalized application process, quick turnaround times, and placement assistance to connect teachers with public schools across the city
- Full teacher’s salary and benefits, determined by schools
- A network of talented, committed teachers working to build a model for urban education reform
